Lupe Alba
Founder, KG&R Bookkeeping Solutions, Inc

Lupe was born and raised in Southeastern Utah. She is the youngest daughter of Narciso and Herlinda Alba, Mexican immigrants who settled in Utah in the 1970s. She has six brothers and three sisters. Lupe grew up on a cattle ranch and at an early age began her entrepreneurial life when she joined the 4-H club and started raising and selling livestock. In high school, Lupe was very active in student government where she served as class president for three years and as Student Body Activities Chairperson her senior year. She was also the President of the National Honor Society, Future Buisness Leaders of America, and Hispanic Club. In addition, Lupe lettered and was the team captain for various sports including volleyball, cross country, basketball, softball, and track. In addition, to social and community service, Lupe excelled academically and as she recollects… realized then that accounting was her call as she took her first bookkeeping course her Junior year.

She graduated from Monticello High School ranked fourth in her class and received an Associate’s Degree in Arts from The College of Eastern Utah in May 1996. She went on to receive softball and academic scholarships to various universities in the Western United States, but graduated Magna Cumme Laude with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Accounting and Minors in Financial Planning and Spanish from Utah State University in May, 1999. During her three years at USU, Lupe served on the College of Business Leadership Council, as President of the Hispanic Club, and on the Beta Alpha Psi Presidency. She was also very involved in other academic and social clubs including tutoring and mentoring groups. Lupe was conditionally accepted into The University of Chicago MBA program in February of 1999, with the condition that she work for two years for Arthur Anderson, LLP (the largest accounting firm in the world in 1999) whom had given her a job offer in their Las Vegas office almost nine months prior to her graduation date.

Lupe began her Accounting career in the Arthur Anderson tax department in June 1999 and quickly advanced within the company. She was recognized both regionally and nationally for her creativity and writing of the Las Vegas office’s weekly newsletter, in which she documented changes in tax law and tax planning ideas. Lupe became the Pacific Southwest specialist in private client services and wealth planning and began training the tax departments in the offices located in New Mexico, California, Utah, and Arizona and was sent on special engagements in Illinois, Mississippi, and Texas. In 2001, Lupe left Arthur Anderson and went to work for a small local CPA firm where she taught herself the ins and outs of the “real” accounting world – small business. She began consulting and was appointed Controllership and CFO positions for 10 small businesses with the first year at her new firm. In October 2003, Lupe left Sanchez, Sellers, & Co, CPAs and started Sellers Co with one of the partners. During the next three years Lupe prepared the tax returns and the accounting for over 500 clients and to this day has received only a one change IRS audit.

In January 2006, Lupe started KG&R Bookkeeping Solutions, Inc – a bookkeeping and accounting services company that provides specialized services including QuickBooks training to small and mid size businesses and non-profit organizations throughout the Las Vegas valley as well as in California, New Mexico, and Illinois. She currently serves on the finance committee for five non-profit organizations, as the President of the Tani Lowry Hunter Endowment Fund Foundation, Treasurer of the Latin Chamber of Commerce Foundation Board, and the Treasurer-Elect of the Nevada Humane Society.
